In 2014, Pat Quinn, a Yonkers native, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) — also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In efforts to raise nationwide awareness and support for the disease, he started the Ice Bucket Challenge. Pat requested that all supporters are filmed as a bucket of ice water is dumped over their heads. Then, each individual nominates a minimum of three people to do the same thing, having only a 24-hour time frame to complete the challenge and make a donation to the ALS Association.
Since 2014, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised more than $115 million in donations. In support of the ALS Association, we have decided to host our own Ice Bucket Challenge. Come watch Reghan, the Community Life Director, get drenched in the courtyard on Friday, August 9th at 2:30pm.
